Unlikely Pairing

Bacon and chocolate, caramel and cheddar… Is there an unorthodox food pairing you really enjoy? Share with us the weirdest combo you’re willing to admit that you like — and how you discovered it.

I’m not sure that I have any preference for unorthodox food pairings.  I love food, but I haven’t gotten used to too many extreme things.

A couple of Fridays ago, I went to a friend’s place.  He was making hot dogs.  He through Pik Nik shoestring potato chips on them.  That was something I had never had.  It tasted pretty good.  It added a nice crunch to the equation.  What with sauerkraut, jalapeno relish, pepper jack cheese, and mustard…it really hit the spot.  I know that’s not really a pairing, but I also know that it was delicious.

An old friend of mine had a taste for pickles on his peanut butter sandwiches.  I, myself, have never tried it.  I don’t know if maybe it was the bread and butter type pickles… That might kind of make sense, just cause… it’s sweet and tangy… Maybe it would resemble jelly in a way.  I don’t see dill pickles meshing with peanut butter though.  I still think it’s a bit weird, so I don’t think I’ll be trying that any time soon.
